| Lesotho has around 87,000
horses, but no professional farriers or saddlers. This means that
many horses have problems with their feet, and badly fitting saddles
give them saddle sores. After the success of Project African Dawn, the government of Lesotho has invited the ILPH to run a similar five-year training programme to train apprentice farriers and saddlers. By the end of the programme, every horse in Lesotho will have received the expert care it needs to lead a happy, healthy and useful life. No horse will have to suffer again because of the skills learnt and passed on within communities.
