Polish Bit Appeal

Bad Biting
An example of a bit made
from a bike chain
We are currently working with the charity Animals Angels to help alleviate the suffering caused to Poland's working horses by the use of inappropriate material for bits.

The use of bike chains and wire are unfortunately all too common, causing injuries and pain to Poland’s working horses.

Thanks to the generosity of ILPH supporters we will be delivering donated bits to Poland’s horses, and working towards educating farmers about the importance of good bitting on the welfare of their horses.

Carcass Disposal

Carcass Disposal
Making the right decision at a
difficult time
Horse owners face many difficult decisions at the end of their horses’ life, aside from the very hard decision of if, when and how your horse should be euthanatized.

As a result of new EU rules which have been introduced in the UK, there are now fewer routes of disposing of equines carcasses which raises additional concerns for horse owners.

Further information and advice is available on our Q&A sheets.

The ILPH recognises that the costs and issues related to carcass disposal could potentially have an enormous impact upon horse welfare - and therefore monitor this issue very closely.
