How You Can Help
There are many ways you can campaign to make a difference, here are a few suggestions:
Letter writing or e-mail campaigning
- One of the most effective ways to educate and influence decisions is by writing letters. Your letter will help to demonstrate the strength of public opinion on a particular issue and is often the best way method of communicating your concerns and encouraging politicians to become active on an issue.
Lobbying politicians
- You can lobby politicians in a number of ways; you could write letters, or visit them at their local surgery. The most important thing is to try and develop a relationship with your local MP / MEP - the more they get to know you, the more interested they will become in the issues that concern you.
Campaigning through the media
- There is no mistaking the power of the media nowadays, and is an extremely useful tool in communicating our campaign messages to a wider audience. You could write to your local paper asking them to publish your letter on their letters page, or contact your local radio station.
Get active in your local area
- One of the best things you can do is to inform your friends about the issues involved and ask them to support our campaigns too. Get in touch with us if you would like more information about how you can become active in your local area.
Fundraising
- By raising any amount of money for the ILPH you will not only be helping us to fund our campaigns, you will also be helping to educate others about the importance of horse welfare - and hopefully have a fun time whilst you do it!
