UK Operations

The ILPH is the largest rehomer of horses in the UK, with nearly 1,800 on our loan scheme. There are around 300 horses in our four Rehabilitation Centres. The UK Welfare Hotline 0870 871 1927 takes around 30,000 calls a year leading to around 1,500 separate investigations by our 16 Field Officers.

International Training

In the Developing World the ILPH works with communities where welfare needs are greatest producing individually tailored programmes to develop skills and the local horse infrastructure. We leave a lasting legacy of better welfare of horses and people that will live on after our departure.

Campaigns

The ILPH campaigns effectively to improve the welfare of horses. Key campaigns include preventing the live export of horses and ponies from the UK for meat, banning the long-distance transportation of live horses for slaughter in Europe, among many other activities.
