ILPH Financial Reports - 2006

Total income for 2006 was £8.6m compared with £6.9m in 2005, a rise of 24%. 2005 included the profit on the sale of our Irish property but there were no such sales in 2006. We expect 2007 to include the proceeds of sale of our old Glenda Spooner Farm in Hereford.

A number of extremely generous supporters remembered us in their Wills and we were very grateful to receive record legacy income this year. This has enabled us to complete the purchase of our new Glenda Spooner Farm in Somerset and to make plans for additional facilities there – such as an Indoor School and a Visitor Centre. Legacy income is vitally important but it can not be relied upon. After a record year like 2006 we can not become complacent about the need to generate the funds we need to make our work possible.

Charitable expenditure increased by 12% (in addition to the purchase of the new farm). There were increases in all areas of activity, most dramatically in our Campaigning work in Romania. Our veterinary seminars have attracted huge interest and in tandem with our training courses for farriers and saddlers we are trying to reach and influence as much of the equine community as possible.
